One of the new events this year will be the Chudleigh Gameshow Challenge, being held on Saturday 5th July.
Hosted by Gina Sherwood, we are expecting a riotous evening of fun: think Play Your Cards Right meets The Generation Game meets It’s a Knockout (but without the giant jousting suits). This will be a Bring Your Own Supper event, although the Chudfest Bar will be open as usual, and at just £2 per head, is guaranteed to be a great night out for all the family.
In association with the activities at the Marquee, there will be en exhibition running in the church throughout the week. The theme will be World War 1 with memorabilia, stories and photos. There will be a display of the West Country Embroiderers ‘Postcards’ – interpretations of cards sent home, as seen at Westpoint.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 5th July during the traditional Church Open Day (and yes, there will be cream teas!). It continues until Saturday 12th July. Opening times will be available on the website and in the brochure.
We are proud to announce that on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th, we will be hosting the Royal British Legion Poppy Quilt which is on tour in Devon throughout the summer.
We’re making some changes to the Summer Ball this year. To start with, it will be on the first Friday of Chudfest: 4th July. There will be a four course meal, with a hot main dish, supplied by The Chudleigh Kitchen. We will be dancing to The Johnny Fuller band; and for those of you who like a flutter, there will be roulette and black jack from the wonderful team at Casino Select (purely for fun and the odd spot prize; no money involved). And there will be one or two surprises as well.
In keeping with the date there will be a red, white and blue theme: a fusion of American Independence and English Summer. So mark the date in your diary and start thinking about those outfits. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 26th May and are expected to disappear quickly.
Although the Marquee doesn’t go up until 3rd July, the first Chudfest summer event will be the Open Gardens weekend, which is being held on the weekend of 28th/29th June. So far we have five gardens confirmed for the Sunday: some new and some old favourites. There will be at least one venue for lunch and another for cream teas.
Details are still being finalised and we will get the venues, dates and times uploaded as soon as they are available. In the meantime, here are some memories of previous years’ events.
