Plans for this year’s Christmas Fayre are complete and you can read all about them on this website.
The brochure is ready and will be delivered to all the houses in town over the next week or so. Keep an eye out for your copy coming through the letter box any day now.
But in the meantime, if you want a sneak previow, you can download it by clicking here.
We now have more details of the activities that will take place during the 24 hour Bioblitz on Friday and Saturday this week and how YOU can get involved. Whether it’s by bringing pictures or specimens on unknown species for identification; providing data on the flora and fauna in your garden; or taking part in one of the guided walks, there’s loads going on to interest children and adults alike.
See all the details by clicking here. See you in the marquee on Friday and Saturday.
One of the features of Chudfest that we are most proud of is that we put on a number of free events during the week, especially for the youngest members of the community. This year, this includes the Superheroes Party and Messy Church.
And on the Tuesday afternoon, there’s a treat in store for years 4 and 5 at the Primary School:
Calling all parents and grandparents. Do you know a child who would like this beautiful lorry?
Made by the talented Richard Marks and donated by Gina and Jon Sherwood, the lorry is the prize in the draw taking place across the whole of Chudfest week.
But you don’t have to wait until then to get your tickets. They are on sale, at just £1 per strip, at the Chudfest Box Office every Thursday and Saturday morning in the market, outside the Town Hall. Get your tickets now, with the chance of making your favourite child very happy.
Have you ever fancied turning your hand to a new craft? How about trying an age-old craft as a new hobby? Friday 8th July brings Shan Palmes to the marquee to demonstrate and entice you to the world of Willow Weaving. You could try a basket, or a 2D sculpture, maybe a garden tripod. You could make all of this year’s Christmas Gifts!
There is a £3 charge for adults, but all materials used will be included. Kiddies come for free, but must be accompanied by an adult. For full details, click here.
If your Superhero has enough whizz! and pow! left in them after the Superhero party, why don’t you stay put in the marquee for an activity session with Christian Story Teller Alexa Tewkesbury, hosted by Messy Church? And this isn’t just for pre-schoolers; the bigger kids are welcome too.
With free entry, the afternoon will be messy and fun and informative! Messy Church is running from 3.30 pm to 5:30 pm on Thursday 7th July. You can find full details by clicking here.
HELP! Help! Save me! Are you a parent to a Superhero? If so, they might want to join forces on Thursday July 7 and come dressed up in their shiniest costumes for a “bring your own” picnic for pre-schoolers at the Marquee and enjoy the hilarity provided by Kiddies’ Entertainer, Hat McKool.
And there’s nothing wrong with a 5′ 8″ forty-year-old dressed as Wonder-woman, so secret parent superheroes, don’t be afraid to don a cape either! Wear your costumes and join in the laughter from 1pm to 3pm! You can find all the details by clicking here.
As usual, there will be a huge free event with something for everyone as we wind down our festival with the annual Summer Fete on Sunday 10th July.

The brochures have been printed; we’ve collected them; stuffed the flyers in them (thanks, team); and Tom has loaded them into his car. In fact, the first few are being delivered as I type. (If you hear something coming through your letterbox as you read this, it could well be your copy.)
And if you prefer your information electronically, you can find a link to the full brochure on the Summer Festival page.
We are all very excited about a new addition to this year’s programme. The 24 hour Bioblitz is an attempt to catalogue the huge diversity of flora and fauna in and around our town. There will be lots to see and do; plenty of opportunities to get involved – and it’s all free. Read all about it by clicking here.
