The weather forecast for the weekend is very promising – a great weekend to visit ten gardens in Chudleigh. They are all looking wonderful, and their keepers are looking forward to meeting you! For the best value lunch in Devon, make sure you visit Woodlands (see menu here), while cream teas are available at several gardens, including The Appleloft (Saturday), Woodlands (both days), Watercress Farm (Sunday) and Oakfield Coach House (Sunday).
Tickets at just £5 are valid for both days and take you into all ten gardens. And if you want to get the kids interested in gardening, remember that under-16s go in for free.
Note these recent programme updates:
The Rock Garden is open, but is not going to be manned and will NOT be selling tickets. Tickets can be obtained at the Chudfest Box Office on Saturday morning, or on the gate at all the gardens apart from the Rock Garden.
Oakfield Coach House will be open on both Saturday and Sunday, although the cream tea will only be served on Sunday afternoon.
If your Superhero has enough whizz! and pow! left in them after the Superhero party, why don’t you stay put in the marquee for an activity session with Christian Story Teller Alexa Tewkesbury, hosted by Messy Church? And this isn’t just for pre-schoolers; the bigger kids are welcome too.
With free entry, the afternoon will be messy and fun and informative! Messy Church is running from 3.30 pm to 5:30 pm on Thursday 7th July. You can find full details by clicking here.
Hark at those sirens! The talented townsfolk of Chudleigh invite you to “take cover” and join your hosts Gaynor Seager and Paul Hurrell for a night of HITS FROMTHE BLITZ, music and entertainment from the forties and fifties.
No rations here, the good folk of Harvey’s of Chudleigh will fill your bellies with Hot Jackets and fillings, and for an £8 ticket you can be assured of good company performers such as with Chudleigh Duo The Sophisticats, AJ’s Burlesque Dancers, Girls Allowed Out, the Shanty Men plus CADS and 2Firedup duo Lisa Smith and Gina Sherwood ( of BBC1 fame!)

The brochures have been printed; we’ve collected them; stuffed the flyers in them (thanks, team); and Tom has loaded them into his car. In fact, the first few are being delivered as I type. (If you hear something coming through your letterbox as you read this, it could well be your copy.)
And if you prefer your information electronically, you can find a link to the full brochure on the Summer Festival page.
It may be a sign of age, but this year is just flying by. It barely seems like yesterday since we were standing in the rain watching the lights go on during the Christmas Fayre, yet here we are, just seven weeks from the arrival of the marquee.
Leah Sambrooks won the competition to design the brochure cover and her illustration is currently being printed. The brochure will be with you before the end of this month.
The programme is now finalised and the web pages will be up very soon.. Over the next few weeks, we will introduce each of the events: what’s happening, where, when and where to get your tickets.
We’ve got some exciting new events this year plus lots of old favourites. we’re very excited about Chudfest 2016 Summer Festival and we hope you are, too.
