Another Round of Thanks

Thank YouLast Saturday’s Variety Concert was a huge success; some people have suggested it was the best yet. We raised more than £200 on the night through the raffle and the Pound a Pop; and together with the ticket sales, this means we have a significant amount towards the Christmas Lights. The organising committee can breathe again!

Thank Yous All Round

Thank YouChudfest summer festival 2016 has ended and this year, our sixth, was the most successful yet. We put on a full programme of events for adults together with several free events for the children and young people of the town. We were delighted, in particular, to host the 24 hour Bioblitz. It was also great that a number of organisations were able to once more use the festival as a framework for charitable fundraising activities.

As Chair of the Chudfest Committee, I would like to thank the Chudleigh residents and their friends who supported the events. Thanks also go to the organisations and businesses that provided sponsorship. [Details of all sponsors and participating groups can be found below.] But, most of all, I would like to thank the small army of volunteers who gave of their time so generously, and without whom the festival just wouldn’t take place.

Feedback has been very positive, and we welcome any further comments, either via the website, our Facebook page or email (chudfest@yahoo.co.uk). Alternatively, you can leave written comments for us at the Town Hall. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have ideas for events or activities they might wish to develop as part of future festivals.

Voucher Auction

AuctionGood Morning Chudleigh!

Well, it’s all over for this year. The marquee has gone and the organisers have been catching up on their sleep. We will post a final round of thank yous and other wrap-up notices before the end of the week, but firstly, we have an announcement of prize-winners and have some exciting news of a special auction.

The winner of the Lucky Number programme was number 20. If you would like to make yourself known to us on 01626 854611 or via chudfest@yahoo.co.uk, there is a crisp £10 note waiting for you.

And the magnificent wooden truck was won by Debbie Andrews.

We have a few vouchers left over from the Tombola. As they are date-limited, we are putting them up for auction now, rather than holding them over to the Variety Concert raffle. We have vouchers for:

Becky Falls. 2 people, worth £16.50

Canonteign Falls. 4 people, plus 4 cream teas, worth over £30

Dinosaur World. 2 visitors, worth £13.90

Pecorama. 2 Adults and 2 children, worth£40.70

Quince Honey Farm. 2 x 2 tickets, worth £29.80

Shaldon Zoo. 2 adults + 2 children, or 1 adult and 3 children, worth up to £24.90

You have until 5pm on Sunday 24th July to get your bids in to: m.r.macnair@exeter.ac.uk

No More Hits

Sold OutWe are delighted to announce that our new addition to this year’s programme, Hits from The Blitz, has sold out. There are no tickets left and we are setting up a waiting list.

If you have a ticket for Friday night and now find yourself unable to come, please get in touch; we will probably be able to resell your ticket, in which case, you will get a full refund.

Our Instagram Breakthrough

InstagramAs we build our publicity campaign for Chudfest 2016 (or #chudfest16, as we like to call it), we are aware we have to use a variety of different channels to reach different sections of the community. We produce a hard copy brochure that goes to every house. We send out press releases to newspapers. We put posters all over the place. And we increasingly explore the online world. Continue reading

2015 Brochure

Pound a Pop

This year’s Grand Draw beat all previous totals – and then some! You bought a magnificent 642 envelopes in total between 26th October and 3rd December, making a prize of £321 and the same amount going into the Christmas Lights fund. So a huge thank you to everyone who donated their pound coins.

Joan Smith

And the lucky winner was Joan Smith from Stokelake, who was so pleased with her pre-Christmas windfall that she generously sent us an additional donation for the fund.

Vals

Joan bought her envelope while having her hair done at Valerie Ann Hair Fashions. The two Vals are well-known for their zeal in selling the Pound a Pop envelopes and were once again the top sellers, with 349 sold in the salon and during the Christmas Fayre.

Other top sellers were: Liz and Carole in the Town Hall during the Fayre (147); and The Globe (98). Our thanks go to all of them, plus Gina Sherwood at UKGetActive; Diamond Cut; The Ship and Sugar Mill.
